He is a graduate of the University of Bradford where he studied philosophy (specialising in the philosophy of mathematics) and advanced curry eating, finding time to appear on Bradford’s championship- winning University Challenge team.

Lars Vestergaard, Research Director, European Wireless and Mobile Communications, IDC

Lars Vestergaard joined IDC in 1998 as a research analyst with IDC Denmark, and in 2001 joined IDC U.K. where he currently works as research director for the European Wireless and Mobile Communications group. In this role he is primarily responsible for research into the wireless enterprise market. Additionally, he is responsible for research across a wide range of topics, including mobile market sizing and forecast, mobile data and Internet, fixed/mobile integration, and the ownership map for the European wireless telecommunications market.

Prior to his role in the U.K., Vestergaard managed the Nordic Telecom program, which covered mobile, ISPs, broadband, Internet commerce, and LAN hardware. In his time in Denmark he was involved in research and analysis projects in many areas of the IT&T markets, including networking hardware and software, professional services and the Internet, and telecommunications infrastructure.

In his roles at IDC, he has been responsible for regular vendor surveys and end-user research, market analysis, consulting support to clients, and management of both quantitative and qualitative research projects as well as running board-level workshops.

Vestergaard is a well-regarded industry commentator and analyst, and is frequently quoted in the media. He is a regular speaker at industry events and has presented at a number of high-profile industry seminars and conferences.

Prior to joining IDC, Vestergaard worked for Olicom Singapore, initially analyzing the market for LAN technology in Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia. He since worked as marketing manager for Southeast Asia.

Vestergaard has an MSc in international business and a BA in business administration from Denmark which included semesters at RMIT (Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology) and SIM (Singapore Institute of Management).

Andrew Hawkins has over twenty years experience in the data communications business. For the last nine years, Andrew has worked at Nokia where for the past three years he has led the Enterprise focused sales team for Nokia UK, providing mobility, FMC and security solutions to some of the worlds largest Enterprise’s. Prior to his appointment at Nokia, Andrew worked for Xyplex, a US based manufacturer of router and remote access products, holding positions in sales and marketing, both in the UK and Australia.
